Heri does Ruby on Rails + Web Design

I talked with “Carl Mercier yesterday at DemoCampMontreal1 and we talked about All Communications Network, an american telecommunications company who is trying to set foot in Montreal. He tells about his experience in his blog, which interestingly received many comments from both the Montreal Tech Entrepreneur Group (Fred, Casey , Ben, …) and the ACN representatives. I have to say that I went to ACN’s offices too and here are the facts:
* ACN is a telecommunications company. They buy bulk capacity from main operators and resell it to individuals. Nothing new in technology or innovation here.
* although I do recognize Donald Trump and Robert Kyosoki’s success, they have no knowledge whatsoever in telecommunications. Even their local team leader recognized that he knew nothing in technology and telecommunications.
* Mr. H and Mr. N are not entrepreneurs. They did not found the company. Everybody would agree they are just sales representatives. By presenting themselves as entrepreneurs, they are fooling everyone.
* I have to agree they are one of the best salesmen out there. They master the art of speech, powerpoint, psychology etc.
* and finally, the real strength of ACN comes from the Multi Level Marketing (MLM) scheme. Everyone who goes into the system will have no choice than get more customers and more representatives join the system. The peer pressure, time and money investment will be just too much. You just can’t back out.

I disagree entirely with the MLM system, because the success of the company has nothing to do whatsoever with the quality of their products and the level of service. They could sell rocks and it would build a multi-million dollar business.

Now, M. H, or M N., or other ACN ‘representatives’, if you read this blog, please remember that real value comes from innovation, talent and work. ACN doesn’t bring any value to the society. It will waste my time if I go there. It will waste yours, and other people’s too.
